Seniors' Safety Program
The Seniors' Safety Program is
ten years old! Founded in 1996 on the initiative of the RCMP, the program was
the first to be established in the province and, with Sharon Elliott as its
initial coordinator, became the model for programs in other jurisdictions.
Funded by the Annapolis West Health Foundation in partnership with the Soldiers
Memorial Hospital Foundation of Middleton, the program is run out of the
Annapolis RCMP detachment, with support from Bruce Chev-Olds, various service
groups throughout Annapolis County and the Municipality of Annapolis County.
The program's goal is to help seniors live safely, securely and independently
in their own homes for as long as possible. It offers 360-degree service,
staying with a senior throughout the course of a concern. Where other programs
may be confined by a narrow mandate, our program coordinator is both a
listening ear and an advocate for seniors.
Here are the answers to some of the most
frequently asked questions about our Seniors' Safety Program.
